The Thuono Audio Magic Wood cartridge was designed in an enterprising collaboration with Sublima Audio Research, which thanks to its many years of experience in the stringed instrument field and its extensive research into acoustic reproduction, has taken this project to a stratospheric performance level.

Construction and treatments
The shell of the cartridge is made of extremely precious wood, from an Italian olive tree more than 200 years of age. This wood has been selected taking into account grain, density and resonance. The wood is then covered with violin maker’s varnish and carefully carved to produce a special resonance chamber. This system allows for greater harmony between the shell and the cartridge itself. During record reading all the energy is monitored and transmitted to the cantilever without dispersions or auto-resonances in the listening range. The stylus cantilever, coils and the diamond are treated to extract the maximum information without altering harmonic content and dynamic distribution. Diamond wear is reduced thanks to electromagnetic interactors that cancel most of the surface contact charges that can ruin/damage the record and the cartridge.
Sound characteristics
The standout feature when listening with this cartridge is the exceptional musicality, in particular the ability to remove any sonic harshness even in those records that are particularly hard to listen to. The timbres of each musical instrument emerge in all their naturalness, and this is especially true for the strings, which are reproduced with a unique timbral authenticity and richness. The Magic Wood head is capable of reproducing both delicate and silky sounds as well as dynamic and powerful sounds, combining them perfectly when the piece of music requires it.
